BEAUFORT COUNTY, NC (WITN) Beaufort County Sheriff Ernie Coleman has filed to run for a second term.
Coleman sent out a news release saying, "It is my pleasure to announce that I am going to humbly seek a second term as your Sheriff. It has been my honor to serve the great citizens of Beaufort County over the past four years. During my first term, through your support, our Sheriff's Office has enhanced the safety and security of the citizens in all our communities. In this upcoming campaign, I am looking forward to bringing out and discussing all the many changes and advancements that I have made to the Office of Sheriff. I will be asking for your continued support and trust to be re-elected as your Sheriff in Beaufort County. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." – Matthew 5:9"
Coleman is running on the Republican ticket.
So far, one other candidate has filed.
Petre Earl Franks Sr. has filed as a Democrat.
On his candidate Facebook page, Franks wrote, Today was a proud day for myself and my campaign team as I, surrounded by family and friends to witness and support my filing for Beaufort County Sheriff!!! Here's to working for you!!!
Franks and his wife have owned a home improvement business for more than 25 years out of Bath.
He says he completed Basic Law Enforcement Training at Beaufort County Community College in 2007 -- and also served as a volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club of Washington.
