Hurricane Chris has moved out to sea and will no longer be a threat to the United States.

As of midday Wednesday, Chris was still a category 2 hurricane with maximum winds of 100 mph. As of 5pm Wednesday, the center was 570 miles east-northeast of Cape Hatteras and moving away.

Hurricane Chris is moving quickly to the northeast at 25 mph. Hurricane Chris will continue to produce dangerous rip currents along the Outer Banks into Thursday, otherwise no significant impacts are expected from the storm.
