Traffic stop turns into drug bust in Beaufort County

BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Three people from the east are facing drug charges after a traffic stop turned into a drug bust.

Beaufort County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle displaying Georgia tags for speeding and failure to maintain lane control.

During the traffic stop, a K-9 alerted on the vehicle and deputies began a search.

Investigators found three small plastic bags containing marijuana in the passenger area of the vehicle and three large bags containing three pounds of marijuana in the trunk.

Lashawnna McCotter, 46, Mario Bargneare, 38, and Calvin Wilson, 33, all from New Bern are confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.

They were charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
