Town of Hookerton hosts 6th Annual Hometown Celebration Saturday

GREENE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Residents in one Eastern Carolina town are invited to attend a celebration that honors their hometown and its heroes.

The Town of Hookerton's Beautification Committee is hosting the 6th Annual Hometown Celebration on Saturday. The event will feature games, face painting, food and craft vendors, along with a BBQ sandwich eating contest and cake walk.

This year's event focuses on raising money to purchase a monument that will honor local military and first responders killed in the line of duty. All of the money will be raised through raffle tickets, with prizes ranging from Down East Wood Ducks game tickets, Zebco Fishing rod/ reels to a Cub Cadet Weed Trimmer.

The event runs from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Main Street.

The evening will be capped off with a fireworks display at the Hookerton Recreation Park starting at 9:15 p.m.
