DUPLIN COUNTY, NC (WITN) - A possible funnel cloud was spotted near two Eastern Carolina schools this afternoon.
Strong storms pushed through several counties that produced several tornado warnings.
There have been no reports of tornado touchdowns or damage.
A WITN viewer caught on video what was believed to be a funnel cloud near North Duplin Elementary School. The school system says once the cloud was spotted, students and staff were brought inside which is normal storm procedure.
When it was safe, students and staff were allowed to go home. North Duplin High School is right next to the elementary school.
Duplin and Wayne counties were under a tornado warning at the time.
About a half hour later there were reports of a funnel cloud near Kinston. Lenoir and Jones counties. Meteorologists say as the storm moved east it weakened and the warnings were allowed to expire.
