Top local chefs cook up proceeds at March of Dimes fundraiser

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Eastern Carolina's finest culinary talent packed the Rock Springs Center in Greenville Thursday evening for the 25th annual Signature Chef's Auction to support the March of Dimes.

Attendees were given the chance to sample meals from a number of local restaurants including Nino's, Chef and the Farmer, and Sam Jones Barbecue.

All the while, they were raising money for the March of Dimes through live auction bidding on unique dining packages donated by the chefs.

It's with the money raised at events like this that the March of Dimes hopes they can give every baby a fighting chance.

"The March of Dimes means to us that we're a family, we're parents," says Carter Stocks, part of the 2017 ambassador family. "It's indescribable the amount of joy we get from this child, she's amazing."

The event also featured a silent auction of one-of-a kind art pieces created jointly by professional, local artists and local children and adults that have been affected by prematurity and birth defects.

WITN's Dave Jordan was the event's emcee.
