Stricter identification required to get on Marine Corps bases

If you're visiting a Marine Corps base, you'll now need a special form of identification.

Starting next Tuesday, visitors to Camp Lejeune or any other Marine base will need to provide an alternate form of acceptable identification to gain entry if they have a driver's license or ID issued by a state that is not compliant with the Real ID Act of 2005.

Other forms include a passport, personal identity verification, or a veteran's health identification card.

If an alternate form of ID isn't presented, those requesting access to a base must be escorted by a sponsor who meets installation requirements, otherwise they will be refused access.
