DUPLIN COUNTY, NC (WITN) March is National Nutrition Month and one eastern Carolina community is coming together to help provide food for those who may not be able to do so on their own.
This week marks the beginning of the "Dare to Care" challenge for seniors at Duplin County's Services for the Aged.
Each week throughout this month seniors will be asked to bring different items for a food drive being sponsored by the Eastern Carolina Council Area Agency on Aging".
Canned goods are being collected this week and items can be dropped off to the other food sites in the county.
Next week, boxed good items will be collected.
Last year just over 1,500 hundred pounds of food, paper products and hygiene products were donated at the end of the month to area food banks.
