KINSTON, NC (WITN) - The Kinston Lions Club is hosting its 2nd Annual "STRIDES" Rockin' Walk-A-Thon to raise awareness for diabetes in March.
The rock-a-thon and walk-a-thon aims to increase diabetes awareness by sharing important information with the public like the importance of health screenings, cholesterol check-ups, exercise, diet, vision care, dental care and more.
The group is also fundraising to send juvenile diabetes patients to a summer camp called "Camp Needles" where children get used to their disease and learn how to manage it well, interact with other diabetes patients and have a wonderful fun week learning and playing together.
Last year the group raised over $14,000 and sent 17 kids to camp.
The Walk-A-Thon is happening on Saturday, March 24 at 8:45am at the Woodmen Community Center.
