Truck driver remains in serious condition following rollover accident

FOUNTAIN, N.C. (WITN) - A man remains in serious condition in a local hospital following a rollover accident in Pitt County.

The accident involved a pickup truck and a car on Bell Road near NC 222 around 6:30 Saturday evening.

Troopers say the driver of the pickup truck, whose name hasn't been released, had surgery last night.

Charges are forthcoming for the driver of the car, Mary Cosner. Officials tell WITN that Cosner and a passenger were heading east on Bell Road when she reportedly ran a stop sign and hit the driver's side of the pickup truck, which was heading east on NC 222.

Cosner and a passenger in her car were also taken to Vidant Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Three people have been transported to a local hospital following a two-car accident in Pitt County.

Firefighters at the scene of the accident on Bell Road near NC 222, say a pickup truck and a car collided just before 6:30 Saturday evening.

There were two people inside of the car and one person inside of the pickup truck. The truck driver was pinned in and needed to be cut from his vehicle, which also caught on fire.

All three people involved were taken to Vidant Medical Center with unknown injuries.

Fountain Volunteer Fire Department, Farmville Fire Department, EMS, and the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

We're waiting to hear back from troopers for more details on how the accident happened.
