Police: Two employees forced into fridge during armed robbery

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - Police are investigating after they say a gunman forced two workers at a fast food restaurant into a walk-in refrigerator Sunday night.

Kinston Police say it happened at the Bojangles on North Herritage Street just before 11:15 p.m. Sunday.

Sgt. John Stroud with Kinston Police says two employees were inside the restaurant when a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt walked inside, armed with a handgun. Sgt. Stroud says the gunman then forced two employees into a walk-in refrigerator in the back of the store while he robbed the restaurant.

Thankfully, no one was injured during the robbery. Police believe the robber got away on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The armed robbery is still under investigation and police say they hope to provide a better description of the gunman later today.
