Police Department teams up with Boy Scouts, other groups for school supplies drive

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - A local police department teamed up with a troop of Boy Scouts and other local groups this weekend to help prepare students for the new school year.

The Kinston Police Department, Boy Scouts Troop 41, Police Explorers 1033 and the Kinston Community Relations Team hosted a back to school drive out at Fairfield Park Sunday.

They encouraged community members to drop off school supplies to help students get be prepared for class.

Kinston Police Chief Alonzo Jaynes says they collected 12 cases full of supplies and $213 at the event.
