PITT COUNTY, NC (WITN) - A Pitt County mom and her kids had a close encounter with a big snake this morning.
Ashley Batts believes their visitor was a four foot gray rat snake or king snake.
She said they first noticed the reptile when it was in their yard off Whichard Road outside of Greenville.
Batts says she and her aunt tried to keep the snake away from the trampoline, but it decided otherwise. It first climbed up her children's slide and onto the trampoline where her two kids were playing.
Eventually, the snake had enough looking around, came down one of the trampoline legs and slithered away.
The mother says the snake was very calm. She took the moment to teach her children about nature and the difference between a good and bad snake.
