Man wanted in shooting father in Pasquotank County nabbed in Greenville

PASQUOTANK COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A man who was wanted for a shooting in Pasquotank County has been arrested in Greenville.

Deonte Stokley was nabbed today by the Greenville Police Department's Violent Crime Apprehension Team and the SBI Fugitive & Missing Person Task Force. He was arrested around noon Tuesday at Sterling Pointe.

Stokley was named a suspect last Monday in the shooting of his father, Johnnie Johnson III. The shooting happened in the 600 block of Crooked Run Road, near Elizabeth City on April 14th.

Deputies say Racquel Gibbs was arrested earlier in Greenville and charged with aiding and abetting in the case.

Stokley is being held on a $500,000 secured bond.

Deputies are asking for help locating a Pitt County man they say is wanted in a shooting in Pasquotank County.

The sheriff's office is looking for Deonte Stokley, of Sterling Point in Winterville.

Investigators say they have warrants for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, among other serious charges.

Officials say this is in connection to the shooting of Johnnie Johnson III in the 600 block of Crooked Run Road, near Elizabeth City.

Authorities say Johnson is still in the hospital.
