WASHINGTON, NC (WITN) - A manufacturing facility that employs more than 200 people in Eastern Carolina is closing its doors in Washington.
The Filtration Group of Parker Hannifin Corporation, formerly known as Stanadyne, announced that they will be closing their facility in Washington and transferring production to existing locations in South Dakota and Mississippi.
Director of Global Communications and Branding Aidan Gormley says this realignment will allow the company to focus on the remaining facilities and ensure higher quality and shorter lead times for customers.
The closing comes just months after the corporation bought out filtration company CLARCOR back in February.
Gormley says the closing will begin immediately and is expected to be complete by December 2017.
Current employees are expected to receive severance pay and re-employment opportunities.
The Washington facility manufactured fuel products for transportation and off-highway markets.
