POLICE: Attempted murder charge filed after Thursday shooting

KINSTON, NC (WITN) - A man has been charged with attempted murder after police say he shot into another man's vehicle Thursday afternoon.

Kinston police arrested Kobe Sheppard at Simon Bright Apartments on Friday, charging him with attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, discharging a firearm into a moving/occupied vehicle, and possession of marijuana.

Rashid Oneil told officers his vehicle was shot while pulling into the U.S. Mini Mart on Old Snow Hill Road. The man was not injured.

Sheppard was jailed without bond.

Also arrested with the man were two others on drug charges.

Marquis Williams is facing trafficking opium or heroin, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and maintain a vehicle for controlled substance. Coryontae Mills was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana.
