PET OF THE WEEK: Isosceles

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - This week's featured Pet of the Week is Isosceles, a 2-month-old black mixed breed pup available for adoption through the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina.

HSEC is offering a new Christmas Eve adopted pet delivery service this year.

For an additional $75 fee, an HSEC volunteer will bring your adopted pet to your home on Christmas Eve wearing a holiday collar and with their own stuffed stocking! Some exceptions will apply, depending on the distance from the Humane Society to the home.

While Christmas is a wonderful and exciting time to add a new pet to the family, Dr. Linda Kuhn also spoke on WITN News at Sunrise about the importance of preparing for the big responsibility that is a pet.

Make sure the entire family is ready to take care of the new family member as soon as they arrive. Always remember, things like dropped food or a family member's medication, Christmas candy, wrapped up presents and string lights can be very appealing to some dogs. Make sure they don't get into anything they're not supposed to so that you don't end up needing emergency vet care on Christmas.

The HSEC adoption center is open Friday - Sunday from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. You can also visit the society's website, www.hsecarolina.org.

The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina brings adoptable animals every Wednesday at 6:25 a.m. on WITN News at Sunrise.
