COROLLA, NC (WITN) - The early morning workers at a bagel shop in Corolla called in a fire Wednesday at a nearby pizzeria.

Authorities say the Tomato Patch restaurant at 803 Albacore St. in Corolla had smoke and flames coming through the roof at 4:15 a.m.

Currituck Fire-EMS crews along with volunteers from Corolla Fire & Rescue started a defensive attack on the fire, trying to keep the blaze from spreading to the nearby strip mall.

The fire was brought under control in two hours, authorities say. No injuries were reported, and no damage was reported to nearby structures. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Currituck fire crews received mutual aid assistance from Carova Beach volunteer Fire & Rescue, the Duck Fire Department, and the Southern Shores volunteer fire department.
