Operation Santa Claus provides gifts for Greenville family

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) - First responders and law enforcement officers dropped off a holiday surprise for a deserving family in Greenville on Christmas Eve.

Greenville Fire Rescue officials and officers with the Greenville Police Department delivered toys, gifts, and food to Clara Woods and her six children.

Battalion Chief Calvin Horne says the gifts were all donated through Operation Santa Claus, which several other law enforcement agencies and local organizations also participate in annually.

Woods says she is thankful and her family is blessed by this act of Christmas kindness. Her children especially enjoyed the basketballs and bikes they were gifted with.

Horne says they give back to the community throughout the year as well but it's always nice to be able to help deserving families during the holiday season.

Greenville Fire Rescue officials also dropped off toys to children at the Crossroads Community Center in Greenville on Saturday.
