ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WITN) - An Eastern Carolina sheriff who was swept into office four years ago after defeating a 24-year incumbent is running for re-election.
Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller announced today that he will seek a second term.
In 2014, Miller defeated Ed Brown in the GOP primary by getting 68% of the vote.
In a news release, Miller's campaign says during the past four years the county has seen a decrease in response times, increased arrests, and improved retention of sheriff office employees.
So far no one has announced they plan to run against Miller.
Filing for the May primary election begins February 12th.
