Onslow County Animal Services looking for leads in shooting death of dog

ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WITN)- Animal services in one county are asking for the public's help in tracking down whoever shot a dog to death.

Onslow County Animal Services says that it received a call March 13th about a dead dog that appeared to have a single gunshot wound to its head.

Animal Control officers found the dog in the wood line off West Ridge Road in the area near Murrill Hill Road in Jacksonville.

The dog appears to be a black and white pit bull mix.

Officers say the animal was found with a faded red leash connected to zip ties around the animal's neck.
