KINSTON, NC (WITN) - Police say an arrest has been made in Sunday's murder outside of a Kinston nightclub.
James Sparks III, 25, was arrested around 9:30 a.m. Friday by Kinston police and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force at a home on George Avenue.
Sparks, who is from Cary, was wanted for the murder of Vontrece Robinson outside of the Kamelot Lounge on North Queen Street just before 2 a.m. Sunday.
Police said a disturbance preceded the shooting in the parking lot and two men were hit after an exchange of gunfire.
26-year-old Tajeem Harris was the other victim and he's expected to recover.
Sparks is being held under no bond at the Lenoir County jail.
Robinson was laid to rest this afternoon.
Police are investigating a deadly shooting outside of a nightclub in the east.
Kinston police responded to a report of shots fired outside of the Kamelot Lounge on North Queen Street just before 2 a.m. Sunday.
Major Tim Dilday say a disturbance took place in the parking area at the nightclub where two people had been shot after an exchange of gunfire.
Police say their preliminary investigation suggests the two men did not shoot each other.
Both men were taken to UNC Lenoir Health Care in private cars and later transferred to Vidant Medical Center.
Dilday says 35-year-old Vontrece Robinson died from a gunshot wound while 26-year-old Tajeem Harris was shot once and is expected to recover.
Harris was listed in fair condition on Monday afternoon.
