North State Little League team returns victorious to Greenville

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - A little league team is back in Eastern Carolina after winning a game that sends them to the Little League World Series.

Members of the North State Little League team had a police escort where dozens of family and fans met them at Elm Street Park in Greenville just after 6:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Greenville team defeated a team from Peachtree City, Georgia 8-6 in the championship game of the Southeast Regionals.

North State will play the winner of the Midwest Regional champions on August 18th in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in round 1 of the double elimination Little League World Series.

Later in the inning, Carson Hardee gave North State the lead for good when he drove one through the left side scoring two runs.

Matthew Matthjis got the win on the mound going 5.2 innings with 10 strikeouts.
