NEW BERN, NC (WITN) - New Bern's Parks and Recreation Department is looking for public feedback on master plans for the new Martin Marietta Park on Glenburie Road.
Martin Marietta donated 55 acres of land to the city in September of 2017, completing a now 888 acre plot owned by the city in that area.
Master plans are being drawn up for programs and amenities at the new park.
In a statement, Director Foster Hughes said "We are excited about the possibilities this project brings to New Bern. This meeting is a great opportunity for the citizens to provide their recommendations on what they would like to see in this park."
The department is holding a drop-in style meeting on Monday, January 29 from 10am-7pm at Center Court at the New Bern Mall for residents to give input and feedback.
The statement also says that the new land will help "with the City's vision to create a regional park with multi-recreational opportunities and the potential for an outdoor amphitheater capable of hosting various entertainment and performances."
