NASHVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Hundreds of bricks of packaged heroin are now off the street after the Nash County Sheriff's Office says it arrested five people for trafficking the drugs.
The Sheriff's Office charged 55-year-old Michael Green, 33-year-old Kahdijah Smith, 37-year-old Shamsuddi Green, 42-year-old Rachine Green and 38-year-old Kawuan Robertson with trafficking heroin and conspiring to traffic heroin.
The Sheriff's Office says its drug task force got a tip that a man would be transporting a large amount of heroin into Nash County from New Jersey.
Four of the suspects are from New Jersey, one is from Ohio.
Authorities say they stopped a car exiting I-95 South onto US 64 West for moving violation in Nashville around 1:15 a.m. Saturday.
During this traffic stop, the Sheriff's Office Canine indicated there was an odor of narcotics on the passenger door as well as in the glove box of the car.
The Sheriff's Office says deputies searched the car finding 283 bricks of packaged heroin along with nearly a quarter of a pound of raw heroin.
Authorities also stopped another car involved in this trafficking case.
