DEPUTIES: Belhaven murder suspect dressed as 9th grade girl

BEAUFORT COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Deputies say an accused murderer on the run had portrayed himself as a 9th grade girl before he was caught in Augusta, Georgia.

Jayquwan Newmones, 23, was arrested Thursday by Greenville police, the SBI, the FBI, Augusta police and Richmond County deputies.

Newmones was wanted for the murder of Timothy Moore whose body was found outside of Belhaven.

Beaufort County deputies say Newmones had drastically changed his appearance, "and been dressing as a girl for over a week, portraying himself as a 9th grade high school student."

A family in Augusta had taken Newmones in, according to deputies, after he came to their home asking for help.

On Sunday, Khalif Newmones, the man's brother, and Alicia Polen were arrested in Augusta. The two were charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

All three people are being held in Richmond County, Georgia.

Jayquwan Newmones is believed to be in the Augusta, Georgia area at this time, according to the feds.

Newmones is wanted for the Christmas Eve murder of Timothy Moore whose body was found outside of Belhaven.

The U.S. District Court issued last week an unlawful flight to avoid prosecution arrest warrant for Newmones.

The brother of a wanted murder suspect and a friend have been arrested in Georgia for their part in a Christmas Eve murder here in Eastern Carolina.

Beaufort County deputies say Khalif Newmones, 25, of Belhaven and Alicia Polen, 27, of Augusta, Georgia were charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Deputies say the two were arrested Sunday by the FBI, the SBI Task Force and the Richmond County, Georgia Sheriff's Office.

Timothy Moore was shot and killed on December 24th off Beach Ridge Road outside of Belhaven.

Deputies have warrants out for Jayquwan Newmones with the murder, but he has not been caught yet.

Newmones is believed to be in the Augusta, Georgia area and Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to his capture.
