UPDATE: Escaped inmate captured in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Authorities say an inmate that escaped last Friday has been captured.

Daniel England III, who was jailed on charges of breaking and entering, larceny and meth, managed to escape near the intersection of Country Club Road and Piney Green Road while being taken to a medical appointment.

He was captured Monday on Rivers Edge Court in the River Hills subdivision.

An escaped inmate on Friday prompted seven schools in Jacksonville to be placed on lockdown.

Those schools were Morton Elementary School, Hunters Creek Elementary School, Hunters Creek Middle School, White Oak High School, Jacksonville Commons Elementary School, Jacksonville Commons Middle School and Northside High School.

The school system says the lockdowns were lifted Friday afternoon.

Deputies say England began struggling with the deputy who was transporting him. England was last seen running toward the Jacksonville Country Club.

The inmate was last seen wearing an orange jump suit. He is 5'6" tall, weighs between 150 and 160 pounds, and has short brown hair.

The man had a removable cast on his right arm and may have a limp.

Authorities say if you see this man do not approach him and immediately call 911.
