Man wanted for two violent home invasions captured in Greenville

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - A man wanted for two violent home invasions was captured at a busy Greenville intersection last night.

Pitt County deputies arrested Steven Hunter around 10:20 p.m. after they stopped a vehicle at Arlington Boulevard and Red Banks Road.

During the arrest, deputies say they found a handgun in Hunter's waistband.

The 24-year-old was wanted for two home invasions from 2015. In both cases, deputies say Hunter and others broken in the homes and robbed those inside.

In one case, a victim was shot in the arm, while in the other home invasion a woman was raped.

Hunter, who is from Ayden, is charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, two counts of first degree burglary, and carrying a concealed weapon.

He's being held on a $1 million bond.

Deputies say three other men were previously arrested for their roles in the home invasions.
