Arrest made in Jacksonville shooting

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A man has been arrested for an afternoon shooting in Jacksonville.

Michael Jackson, 39, of Jacksonville, was arrested around 5:00 p.m.

He's been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury, discharging a firearm into occupied vehicle inflicting serious injury, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Police say the shooting happened around 2:00 p.m. in the 100 block of Annie Avenue. The 41-year-old man was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

A preliminary investigation shows that Jackson shot at the victim in a vehicle and then ran from the area.

There's no word on the condition of the man shot, nor have police released his name.
