Lowe's awards Carteret County teacher $50,000 to improve classroom

NEWPORT, N.C. (WITN) - Some big time renovations are on the way for one teacher's classroom in the east.

Lowe's Home Improvement awarded Bogue Sound Elementary School teacher Jason Vansant with check for more than $50,000.

Vansant says that money will be used to renovate a classroom into a functional STEAM lab, which encompasses areas of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

Vansant say the plan is to install a projector that turns the dry erase board into a touch screen, a recording studio for kids to podcast and other improvements.
