Locals spending warm days outside playing

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - With summertime fast approaching and spring bringing the hot temperatures, it's easy to look forward to the upcoming season as a time to sit back and unwind.

WITN caught up with folks and their children enjoying the outdoors at Greenville Town Common playground Thursday.

Some of them say summer brings back nostalgic times, while others are new to the area and look forward to their first summer in eastern North Carolina.

"Summer reminds me of all the fun times I used to have when I was younger, but also summer reminds me of being free to do what you need to do, while also being healthy at the same time," says Angelica Copeland.

"Coming down from the northeast, and I'm happy to be here and be somewhere where we can go out on the Tar River, and paddle board and kayak, and ride bikes around town and be outside maybe a little more than we would back at home," says Jonathan Forte.

Summer officially begins June 21st.
