GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - A non-profit founded by local Eastern Carolina physicians is working to help refugees around the world.
Dr. Ruba Sarsour is the President and Founder of the Hanan Refugee Relief Group, a 501c3 non-profit organization established by a small group of physicians that trained at Vidant Medical Center and other professionals in the Eastern Carolina community.
The group has already made trips overseas to provide refugees living in tents with portable restrooms. They're beginning work to help orphans and single mothers with shelter, education and mental health and rehabilitation services.
The organization is hosting a fundraiser dinner to raise awareness for their projects.
At the dinner, guests will learn more about the group's purpose and efforts and plans for future projects. There will be live entertainment, a silent auction and a raffle.
The dinner is being held at 6pm on March 4 at the Courtyard by Marriott on Stantonsburg Road in Greenville.
Tickets are $60.
