GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Hundreds of people in Greenville lined up early Saturday morning to get a free tank of gas from the Koinonia Christian Center Church.
Organizers say the church decided to do the giveaway because the recent snow and ice had taken a toll on some people's wallets.
The church hosted the event at the Walmart gas stations on Arlington Boulevard and Memorial Drive. The event officially started at 8 a.m. but cars began lining up as early as 4 a.m., Koinonia Christian Center Church Member Amy Brothers said.
The church capped the gas giveaway at 250 cars, allowing each tank to get $20 worth of fuel.
