Kinston Police charge man with attempted murder, looking for second suspect

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN)- Police say a man is behind bars and another is on the run for attempted murder.

It was back on June 22nd around 4:57 a.m. that Kinston Police officers responded to a shots fired call along the 800 block of E. Bright Street.

There they found Rodney Meadows, 31, suffering from a gunshot wound. Police say moments later, Quentin Jones, 29, showed up to UNC Lenoir suffering from a gunshot wound as well. The two were both taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment.

Police say both men had been involved in the same shooting.

On Tuesday, police say attempted first degree murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon warrants were obtained for Meadows and Demario Washington, 25, for their involvement.

Police located Meadows and charged him. He's being held on a $1,000,000 secured bond.

Washington is still at large.
