"Kings of Q" BBQ Cook-off and Festival kicks off Friday

AYDEN, PITT COUNTY (WITN) - The "Kings of Q" BBQ Cook-Off and Festival is returning to downtown Ayden this weekend.

The BBQ cook-off and festival scheduled to kick off on Friday, May 19th with the winners crowned on Saturday, May 20th.

Barbecue competitors will arrive in Ayden from several states on Friday as the competition gets underway.

Visitors are welcome to come out and visit the teams competing, enjoy rides, the beer garden and live music beginning Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.

The festival will pick back up on Saturday at 8 a.m. and will run till 11 p.m.

Those wanting to get involved in the judging process are able to pay $10 to try ten different team's meat then put their votes in for the "People Choice Award." Judging for this award will begin Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Ayden Christian Church.

Contestants will be competing for $10,000 in prizes and bragging rights.

The cook-off sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society.
