Jones Senior High School - Megan Rose Downs

Since the young age of three I have been raised in the small tight knit community that is Jones County, and I would not trade that for the world.

As the daughter of teacher at my local middle school I grew up running around the halls in the summer and always having an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Jones County Public Schools changed my life at the conclusion of my fifth grade year when I was given the opportunity to accelerate to the seventh grade. This decision to accelerate has positively impacted my life through all my remaining years in the Jones County Public School System.

As a community member in Jones County I have had many opportunities that would not have been available to me otherwise. I have been able to participate with Volleyball, Tennis, Football, Basketball (Men’s and Women’s), Softball, and Track in my four short years at Jones Senior. In addition to this I have been an active member of FFA, Student Government, National Honor Society, CTE Honor Society, 4-H, Yearbook, and many other clubs and activities both in my school and in my community.

I have always told my peers that being content is never enough, one must push him or herself in order to improve and improving, even in small amounts, makes you successful. I am proud to be representing Jones Senior in my collegiate experience through which I will be improving my life.
