Jones County issued the mandatory evacuation order this afternoon.
The county has no shelter capable to withstand a Category 4 storm, so shelters will be located outside of the county. Transportation to out-of-county shelters will be available at Jones Senior HIgh School starting at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, while people are encouraged to registered starting at 9:00 a.m.
Lenoir County is under a voluntary evacuation. County leaders say if you plan to stay, help might not be available for up to 72 hours.
Shelters are being set up at Lenoir Community College, North Lenoir High School and South Lenoir High School.
Kinston says it will be putting fliers out on homes that may be prone to flooding.
