Indulge your sweet tooth at Carolina Chocolate Festival this weekend

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WITN) - Chocolate lovers have a reason to celebrate this weekend in Morehead City in honor of the annual Carolina Chocolate Festival.

The Crystal Coast Civic Center is filled wall to wall with chocolate bars, cakes, ice cream and so much more.

On Saturday, crowds of people participated in the Cocoa 5K Fun Run that kicked off at 8 a.m. while others enjoyed some relaxation at the event's Chocolate Spa.

The theme of the festival is Celebrating Charity and Chocolate. It benefits Carteret County Domestic Violence, Beaufort Sister Cities, Bridge Student Ministries, Second Blessings Community Outreach, and Carteret County 4-H.

The chocolate festival runs again on Sunday from 10am-4pm and features more delicious treats along with pudding eating contests.

Active duty Military personnel will be given free admission on Sunday with their military ID.

Tickets are $9 for adults and $2 for children ages 5-12.

Eastern Carolinians with a sweet tooth will want to head to Morehead City this weekend for the Carolina Chocolate Festival.

While Friday featured a wine tasting dinner and judging began for the pro/am chocolate dessert contest, plenty more event will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Crystal Coast Civic Center.

At the festival, you can find chocolate vendors galore. Wall to wall chocolate cakes and tortes to chocolate bars and ice cream, the event offers more than a sampling of everything chocolate.

There's even an hourly pudding eating contest and chocolate door prizes given away.

The chocolate festival runs on Saturday from 9am-6pm and Sunday from 10am-4pm.

Active duty Military personnel will be given free admission on Sunday with military ID.

Additional events include a Cocoa 5k/Fun Run beginning at 8am on Saturday. There's a 7am check-in at the Crystal Coast Civic Center.

There's even the opportunity to relax at the Chocolate Spa.
