ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WITN) - The Onslow County sheriff says they suspect a murder-suicide in the death of an elderly couple on Sunday.
The bodies of Milton Kaup, 74, and his wife, Naoko were found in their Oakwood Drive home.
Both were shot, while Sheriff Hans Miller says the 84-year-old wife had some medical issues including memory loss. Miller says they believe the husband shot his wife, before turning the gun on himself.
"Honestly, we went grocery shopping came back, seen a bunch of law enforcement--were completely shocked because honestly this neighborhood is very very quiet. Everybody gets along here so it comes with a big shocker that this actually happened," said neighbor Kevin Jimenez.
Tax records show the couple had lived in the home for the past 33 years.
A homicide investigation is underway in Onslow County after two bodies were found in a home off Oakwood Drive outside Jacksonville.
