KINSTON, NC (WITN) - Firefighters say an historic home for sale was destroyed in "set fire" early Tuesday morning.
Kinston firefighters got the call around 12:40 a.m. to the two-story home at Perry Street and Warren Avenue.
Captain Will Barss says in addition to city firefighters, they called in three volunteer fire departments to help battle the blaze.
The large house fire was finally under control around 3:00 a.m.
Barss says the fire was set and there was no electricity in the vacant home. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No firefighters were hurt battling the fire, according to the captain.
Tax records show the 3,200 square foot home was built in 1910.
