Helicopter rescue team training in Beaufort County

BEAUFORT COUNTY, NC (WITN) A three day training exercise for multiple emergency agencies in the east entered its second day Thursday as those organizations train for water rescues in a number of situations.

In Beaufort County, the North Carolina Helicopter and Aquatic Rescue Team, a highly specialized force that combines the North Carolina National Guard, The NC State Highway patrol and local rescue technicians was out training all day, practicing helicopter based rescues.

The team used a diver to simulate a drowning victim and practiced the steps they need to take to complete a rescue.

According to NC-HART, the focus of the training is to improve operations among the various agencies that need to work together quickly and efficiently during these high pressure situations.
