Greenville Fire/Rescue SUV involved in wreck at intersection

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Two people, including a city firefighter, received minor injuries after a Greenville Fire/ Rescue SUV was involved in a wreck with another vehicle this afternoon.

The crash happened just after 1 p.m. at the intersection of Memorial and Arlington Boulevard and involved another SUV.

Arlington Boulevard was closed in both directions for a while because of the crash.

Fire/Rescue spokesperson Rebekah Thurston says that the vehicle is with Battalion 1 and was responding to a fire.

A police department spokeswoman says the driver of the other SUV was transported to Vidant Medical Center, while the firefighter was taken to a city clinic for minor injuries.

Police say the fire department vehicle was westbound on Arlington, while the other SUV was heading south on Memorial. Officers are continuing to investigate the crash.

The call the Fire/Rescue vehicle was responding to turned out to be a minor house fire.
