GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - Police in one Eastern Carolina city are investigating a car crash Thursday afternoon in which the driver died from a medical problem.
The crash happened around 12:25 p.m. at the intersection of Greene Street and Mumford Road in Greenville.
Greenville police say a middle-aged man was driving his car near the intersection and had a medical emergency.
The car drifted into a railroad crossing signal pole.
A Pitt County Sheriff's Office detective was driving behind the man and started performing CPR. Unfortunately, rescue efforts were unsuccessful and the man died at the scene.
The name of the victim has not yet been released by police.
