NEW BERN, NC (WITN) - A free two-day dental clinic for adults kicked off at 6am Friday morning in New Bern and will continue Saturday.
The North Carolina Dental Society Missions of Mercy (NCMOM) clinic is designed to treat adults with limited finances.
The two-day clinic starts at 6am each day at The Ephiphany School.
"This event is one of many NCMOM Clinics held in North Carolina since 2003," says Missions of Mercy Director Dr Bill Blaylock. "In New Bern, volunteer dental professionals will staff 70+ dental chairs and are expected to treat more than 700 individuals. Many have serious oral health problems that cause severe pain and pose a serious health risk."
Organizers say the goal of the clinic is to relieve pain for as many patients as possible over the two day period.
Services available will include: oral exams, x-rays, cleanings, and extractions.
Patients will be seen on a first come first served basis and should be prepared to wait in line for service. Organizers recommend bringing food, water and any medications you may need to wait for several hours.
While the adult dental clinic will be held at The Epiphany School, patients MUST park and check-in at Temple Baptist Church; a shuttle will be provided to transfer patients to the school beginning at 5:30 AM each day. Please enter the Temple parking lot from YMCA Drive as the Kingdom Way entrance will be blocked.
