Police ID man killed on North Carolina A&T campus

GREENSBORO, NC (WITN) - Police have identified the man who was shot on the campus of North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro.

Kimeko James, 25, is not a student at the university, according to Greensboro police.

Police say a man and woman got into a brief struggle on campus just before 11:30pm.

The man was allegedly armed with a handgun that went off during the dispute.

Police later found James in a vehicle with life-threatening injuries.

He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It is unclear whether the fatal shot was the one fired during the struggle.

Police say they have no suspects in James' murder.

This is the third fatal shooting in Greensboro in the last 24 hours.
