Family loses home in Snow Hill fire

SNOW HILL, N.C. (WITN) - Fire officials say a family is displaced after their home was destroyed in a fire Sunday afternoon.

Snow Hill Fire Chief Lynwood Bunn says they responded to 819 Green Acres Road around 4:40 p.m. to find the home fully involved.

Bunn says the homeowner and several other family members were inside at the time of the fire but were able to safely escape. The Red Cross is assisting them with housing.

Crews from seven other departments were called in to assist with extra water and manpower. Bunn says more than fifty firefighters were on scene until nearly 10:00 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined but Bunn says crews will continue their investigation today. The house is a total loss.
