Employee sent to hospital after grocery store fire

KENANSVILLE, NC (WITN) - An employee was sent to the hospital after a grocery store fire this morning.

Four volunteer fire departments were called to Jackson's IGA in Kenansville shortly after 7:00 a.m.

Duplin County Emergency Manager Matt Barwick says right now they believe the fire started in the air conditioning system.

Minimal damage happened to the store while one employee was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to Barwick.
