Employee fired after being charged with setting blaze at town hall

PIKEVILLE, NC (WITN) - A town employee was fired today after the SBI announced he was charged with setting fire to town hall.

Kelvin Robinson, of Goldsboro, is charged with burning of certain public buildings and one count of larceny by employee.

The SBI says the 38-year-old was arrested last Thursday for allegedly setting fire to the Pikeville Town Hall last November and stealing some $900 in cash.

The town says Robinson, who started with the town in 2014, was fired today from his job with public works.

Robinson was jailed on a $25,000 secured bond.
