ECU online degree programs make list of best in U.S.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - ECU has been ranked among the best schools in the nation for online degree programs by U.S. News and World Report.

Master's degree programs in both criminal justice and the College of Education were ranked as top 20 programs nationwide.

Graduate programs in nursing ranked 34th out of 154 schools, while the MBA program finished in the top third of programs nationally.

ECU's online bachelor's degree program also fared well, ranking 143rd out of 346 schools that were ranked.

Administrators say they began prioritizing online education years ago and constantly look for new ways to enhance learning.

"We endeavor to take our impressive suite of programs and make them accessible to student populations," says ECU Vice Provost Dr. Christopher Locklear. "Whether it's face-to-face or online delivery or whatever new innovation is on the horizon, we'll be there to deliver outstanding educational opportunities."

Over 8,000 undergraduate students at ECU took at least one online course this past fall and more than 3,000 are full-time online students.
