GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - The rankings are out and East Carolina University moved up a few places, according to U.S. News & World Report.
The magazine each year ranks national universities and public colleges in their "Best Colleges" guide that was released Tuesday.
In the national university category, ECU tied at 207 out of 311 institutions. Duke was 9th in the country, Wake Forest 27th, UNC Chapel Hill 30th, NC State 81st, and UNC Charlotte 198th. US News & World Report did not publish rankings for NC A&T and UNC Greensboro.
Last year, ECU ranked 210 in the national university list.
"ECU's ascent in the national rankings mirrors our growing reputation as a great national university," ECU Provost Ron Mitchelson said. "We are committed to excellence in our instruction, our research and our service. With our current emphases on funded research and internationalization to benefit our students, that reputation, along with the rankings, will continue to grow."
Among public schools across the nation, ECU came out 113th out of 132 institutions ranked.
